Local Chat is a free, open source project maintained by Youssef Dhibi. These terms describe use of this website and the desktop app. The software’s MIT license grants the rights to use, copy, modify, and distribute it. These terms do not take away those rights.
Use a network you trust
You are responsible for the content you share and for having permission to use the network. All current-network rooms are public to people running the app there. A display name is not a verified identity. Do not use the app for unlawful content, harassment, malware, or attempts to disrupt other people’s devices.
Keep your own copies
This is early software. Delivery and history depend on the participating computers, their storage, and their network. Keep separate copies of important information. The app is not an emergency communication service or a guaranteed archive. Other peers may retain messages after you remove your local data.
Software without warranty
The software is provided as is, without warranties, as described in the MIT license. To the extent permitted by applicable law, the authors and copyright holders are not liable for claims or damages arising from the software or its use. Nothing here excludes rights or liabilities that applicable law does not allow to be excluded.
Downloads and external services
GitHub distributes releases and hosts the source, issues, and update metadata. Cloudflare hosts this site. Those services have their own terms and privacy policies. Windows installers are currently unsigned and may trigger operating system warnings. Check the source and checksums before installing.
Changes and contact
